Frequently Asked Questions

How do I move a piece?

Tap a piece to select it — legal destinations light up. Tap a highlighted square to move there, or drag the piece directly onto the square. Tap the piece again or tap an empty square to deselect.

How do I play against the computer?

Tap the menu icon (•••) and choose New Game, then select vs Computer and pick a difficulty. The computer plays as Black by default.

What are the difficulty levels?

• Easy — answers almost immediately. Takes what it can see without looking for the reply.
• Medium — thinks for about a second. Plays exchanges out and punishes a loose piece.
• Hard — thinks for a few seconds and plays the best move it can find in them.

How do I start a new game?

Tap the menu (•••) and choose New Game, then pick vs Human or vs Computer.

How does undo work?

Tap the undo button in the toolbar to take back the last move. Tap redo to put it back. In a game against the computer, undo takes back both your move and the computer’s reply.

How do I flip the board?

Tap the Flip Board button in the toolbar. In a game two players share, you can also turn on Turn the board each move in Settings to have the board automatically face whoever is about to play.

What chess rules are supported?

All of them — castling, en passant, pawn promotion, check, checkmate, stalemate, the fifty-move rule, threefold repetition, and insufficient material. When a promotion happens, a picker lets you choose the piece.

How do I step through my moves?

Tap the back and forward arrows in the move history panel to step through the game one move at a time. The board follows.

Can I copy the game?

Yes — tap the menu (•••) and choose Copy PGN. The full game in Portable Game Notation is copied to the clipboard.

Where are my saved games?

Every game is saved automatically. Tap the History button to see the full list of past games. Tap any entry to open it.

Will my games sync across devices?

Not in the current version. Games are stored locally on your device only.
